The Owen Warlassies are 2-3 following a Jan. 18 win at home over Western Highlands Conference foe, Polk. Sophomore Carly Hancock (10) led the way with 12 points as the Warlassies defense stifled the Wolverines in a 43-26 victory.

The contest was the fifth straight home game for the Warlassies, while Polk was playing its first game of the season.

Owen jumped out to an early lead on the strength of an energetic defense and an 8-point first half by Hancock. Senior Hannah Larios (3), who finished the game with 8 points, scored 5 through two quarters. The duo accounted for more than half of the Warlassies scoring through the first two quarters.

Six Warlassies scored against the Wolverines, as senior Sarah Kahlil (5) battled in the paint for 7 points. Junior Mattie Lehman (13) also contributed 7 points, going 3 for 4 from the free-throw line.

Owen will go on the road for the first time this season, Thursday, Jan. 21, to take on Mountain Heritage. The reigning conference champion Cougars are coming off a 21-7 season.
