The Owen men’s basketball team dropped to 1-3, Jan. 18, as they fell short in a comeback attempt at home against Polk.

The Warhorses stormed back from a double-digit deficit in the second half with strong offensive performances from senior Dequan Boyce (22) and sophomore Hunter Inabinett (35). The sophomore scored 2 of his team-high 19 points with a dunk to finish a fast break. Boyce, who scored 39 points in Owen’s Jan. 15 home victory over Mitchell, hit 5 of 6 free throws to finish the night with 16.

Junior Jacob Price (2) paced the Warhorses in the first half on his way to 12 points in the loss to Western Highlands Conference foe, Polk. Senior Logan Melton (11) added 6 by way of a pair of 3-pointers.

Owen will take on defending conference champion Mountain Heritage, Thursday, Jan. 21, as they look to pick up their second win of the season. The Cougars finished 10-0 in the WHC last season on their way to a 26-2 record.
