The Warlassies were back in action, April 23, following a 14-day hiatus, and the Western Highlands Conference’s top team brought its bats back from spring break.

Owen improved to 8-0 in conference play, defeating Rosman, 11-5, in Black Mountain. The victory was the home team’s fourth straight.

Sophomore Hannah Norton put the Warlassies ahead in the bottom of the first inning, blasting a 2-run home run to right center field. The long ball was her 4th of the season.

Owen never looked back, establishing a 4-1 advantage in the bottom of the third inning, before adding 4 more runs in the fifth. The offense drove in 3 additional runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Six Warlassies scored runs, as they improved to an 11-3 record, while senior pitcher Sophie Neal struck out 13 Tigers.

The reigning WHC champions have outscored their opponents by a combined total of 53-9 in their past four contests.

Owen will travel to Rosman, Thursday, April 24, to face the Tigers for the final time in the regular season. The Warlassies will return home at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, when they host second place Madison on Senior Night.
