Black Bears maul Warhorses in season opener

Owen falls to Pisgah, 76-34

The Owen Warhorses struggled in their home opener against a sharpshooting Pisgah team to open the 2020-21 season.

Both teams battled through the first quarter, but the Black Bears pulled away before the half and extended their lead in the second half. With help from a flurry of three-pointers, Pisgah cruised to comfortable 76-34 victory.

The Warhorses were led senior guard Dequan Boyce, who scored 18 points in the losing effort.

Owen is scheduled to host Haywood Christian Academy on Tuesday, Jan. 12. A gallery with photos from the Jan. 7 game against Pisgah is below.
