The Asheville Christian Academy women’s basketball team continues to impress in the first few weeks of the young season. Following wins over Carmel Christian, Hickory Grove and Knoxville Catholic, the Lions hosted Forsyth Country Day over the weekend and made quick work of the Furies.

From the opening tip, the Lions dominated play and cruised to the 55-31 victory.  ACA was led by sophomore EP Sluder, who finished with 11 points and 4 rebounds.  Senior Nandhi Smith added 9 points while sophomore Elizabeth Harrington chipped in 9 points and 5 steals. India Smith also finished with 9 points.

The win pushes the Lions' overall record to 4-1 on the season.

The ACA men’s team failed to secure their first victory of the year against Forsyth Country Day.  The Lions fell behind by 21 points midway through the third quarter but spearheaded a furious comeback. Seniors Collin Mills and Max Rogers pumped in multiple three-pointers in the final 12 minutes while junior Chris Harris and freshman Christian Andrews, scored multiple buckets in the paint. The Lions pulled within 1 point in the final minute but two made free throws in the final seconds by Forsyth Country Day and a missed three-point shot at the final buzzer by Mills gave the Furies a 70-67 win.

The Lions men’s team slips to 0-7 on the season.
