As the 2023 spring soccer regular season enters its final weeks, the Warlassies will recognize five players on Senior Night, beginning at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 3.
Owen, which enters the contest in sole possession of second place in the Western Highlands Conference, has won seven of its last eight matches. The 9-4 Warlassies will host 4-10 Avery in their regular season home finale.
First-year head coach Trei Morrison and his team will recognize Mia McMcurry, Julia Givens, Katiana Wilhelm, Maesyn Gardner and Olivia Kadens before the teams meet for the second time this season. Owen overcame the Vikings, 6-1, in the first meeting of the teams in Newland.
The Warlassies opened the season 1-3 before entering conference play, where they won four straight matches. A 2-1 non-conference victory over A.C. Reynolds extended their winning streak to five. The team’s sole conference loss came April 19, against Madison, which currently sits atop the WHC standings.
Led by 10 goals from junior Abby Reitzel and 8 each from Kadens and sophomore Kaylee Allison, Owen will travel, on Monday, May 8, to Madison County for its second match of the season against the Patriots. The Warlassies will close out the season, Tuesday, May 9, on the road against Enka.
