Warlassies fall to Bearcats at home in season opener

Hendersonville outlasts Owen, 53-45

The Owen Warlassies opened the 2020-21 basketball season, Jan 4., with a 53-45 loss at home to Hendersonville.

Led by first-year head coach Chasity Simpson, who was joined on the sideline by former longtime head coach and current assistant coach Tim Raines, Owen took an early lead over the Bearcats and carried that advantage into the half.

Hendersonville closed the gap in the third quarter, as the Warlassies struggled offensively coming out of the break. The Bearcats took the lead in the fourth quarter and held strong through the final minutes for the win.

Senior Hannah Larios led Owen with 14 points in the losing effort, while sophomore Maesyn Gardner tallied 8.

The Warlassies will return to the court at Owen, Friday, Jan. 8, when they look to pick up their first win of the campaign against Pisgah.
