A strong start to the 2021 soccer season has the Warlassies battling for first place in the Western Highlands Conference.

Owen opened the campaign with five straight wins through March before falling at home, 4-3, to Madison, April 12. Head coach David Fiest and his team responded with a 3-0 road win against Mitchell two nights later.

With the victory over the Mountaineers the Warlassies improved to 6-1, overall, and 4-1 in the conference. With identical records, Owen is currently tied with Madison for the top spot in the WHC.

The April 14 win against Mitchell marked the second time this season the Warlassies have held an opponent scoreless, giving the team momentum as they prepare for their Monday, April 19 home match against Polk.

The Wolverines, who handed Madison its only defeat this season, enter the contest against Owen in third place in the WHC with a 3-2 conference record and 5-2 mark, overall. The Warlassies will host Mountain Heritage and Avery in the coming weeks before traveling to Madison, Wednesday, April 28, to close out the regular season.
