An Oct. 15 trip to Henderson County ended in a 45-27 loss for the Owen Warhorses, who slid to 2-6 on the season after falling to West Henderson on the road.

Owen played its final non-conference game of the season one week after a 50-point homecoming performance against Rosman, but the offense stalled against the Falcons, who improved to 2-6 with the victory.

The Warhorses fell behind early in the contest, but touchdowns by senior running back Briggs Barker and junior quarterback Alex Sanchez evened the first quarter score, 14-14. Owen’s offense would stall after in the second quarter, which opened with a three-and-out and a lost fumble on consecutive possessions.

The Falcons, led by junior quarterback Lukas Kachilo, moved the ball through the air most of the night, finishing the contest with 5 passing touchdowns. West Henderson opened the fourth quarter with a 45-14 lead, but a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns by the Warhorses were not to overcome the deficit.

The Warhorses will travel to Newland, Friday, Oct. 24, to take on the 1-7 Avery Vikings.
