A community-organized celebration of Owen High School graduates is returning to the east parking lot of the Swannanoa Ingles, Friday, June 4.

The Rally in the Valley, which debuted in 2020 to recognize seniors who were unable to attend an in-person graduation ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be back for a second year.

The event, which is sponsored by Ingles and features families and friends watching from their cars and trucks while a parade of graduates in decorated vehicles passes by, will begin at 6 p.m., the day before the Owen graduation.

The Rally is organized by parents of graduating seniors, including Chloe Lundsford, Hope Burk, Courtney King, Brittany Krasutsky and Chelley Williams, who helped organize the event last year. The group is seeking volunteers who are willing to direct parking and organize the graduates at First Baptist Church of Swannanoa. Those interested in volunteering should call or text Lunsford at 828-273-3213.
