Free music series continues with Mountain Friends Trio
The Valley Echo
June 4, 2021
A new local concert series, hosted by the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, will continue from 5 - 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 4, with the music of the Mountain Friends Trio.
The second installment of Pickin’ on the Porch, a free monthly concert held on the back porch of the downtown building, will feature the Homeslice Pizza food truck.
The Mountain Friends Trio, a combination of Cheryl and Doug Frey and Mike Gosey, enjoys performing a wide range of genres from traditional Appalachian folk to gospel to jazz to Beatles tunes they have loved throughout their long history. Cheryl plays dulcimer, mandolin and bass, Doug plays bass and autoharp while Gosey is an accomplished guitar player.
Asheville-based Homeslice Pizza will set up in the back parking lot of BMCA, which is accessible from South Dougherty Street to allow concertgoers convenient access to refreshments.
The next Pickin on the Porch concert will feature The International String Band, Friday, July 2.
