The Warhorse soccer team extended its winning streak to four games, Feb. 22, with a 1-0 victory at home over Polk.
Owen, which sits alone at the top of the Western Highlands Conference standings, has outscored its opponents 13-4 since the streak began on Feb. 9, with a 5-2 win on the road against Avery.
The Warhorses, led by head coach David Fiest, were undefeated in the WHC through the 2017 and 2018 seasons before failing to qualify for the state playoffs in 2019. The 2020 fall campaign was moved to the spring, which began for Owen with a 3-3 tie on the road against Smoky Mountain in January.
With the win over Polk, the Warhorses improve to 5-1-1 on the season and hold a 4-0 record against WHC competition. The team will attempt to keep its winning streak alive on the road, Wednesday, Feb. 24, against Madison, which Owen defeated 4-0 when the programs met last Friday.
