The Owen Warhorses will kick off the 2022 football season on the road against Chase, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 26, and a bus ride through the center of town will offer the Swannanoa Valley an opportunity to give them a proper send-off.

Supporters of the team are asking local residents to line State Street, between North Dougherty Street and Richardson Boulevard, at 4:15 p.m., to cheer on the Warhorses as they head to Forest City.

Owen, led by senior quarterback Alex Sanchez and running back Kameron Moore, will open the campaign against the 1-0 Trojans, who enter the contest following a 42-0 victory over Mountain Heritage, Aug. 19.

The Warhorses, led by first-year head coach Zach Gibson, will look to improve on last season’s 4-7 record, following a strong performance in a scrimmage against Landrum (S.C.) earlier this month.
