Free family-friendly movies are returning to the lawn of Grovemont Square in Swannanoa this week.

Cinema on the Square will make its 2021 debut at 8:30 p.m., Friday, June 11, with a showing of an animated movie based on the Arthur Conan Doyle character, Sherlock Holmes.

Grovemont Square, located at 101 West Charleston Avenue (adjacent to the Swannanoa Library), boasts beautiful mountain views, an adjacent playground and a large grassy area for playing games and hanging out. Popcorn and light refreshments will be available for purchase. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy a night of free family entertainment under the stars.

The event is sponsored by Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa (FANS), the Swannanoa Community Council and Friends of the Swannanoa Library.
