Black Mountain Center for the Arts to host pumpkin carving contest

The Black Mountain Center for the Arts is opening its “Light Up State Street” pumpkin carving contest. Entries, which will be displayed along State Street, must be submitted before Oct. 28. Courtesy photo

 

It’s almost time for the Black Mountain Center for the Arts’Light Up State Street” pumpkin carving contest. The family friendly community event is designed to bring Halloween cheer to downtown.

All ages are invited to participate, and registration is $5 for each entry. Pumpkins must be dropped off at BMCA on Wednesday, Oct. 27 or Thursday, Oct. 28.

BMCA will display and illuminate the pumpkins on State Street Friday, Oct. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 31. Winners will be chosen in adult (15 and older) and child (under 15) age groups for three different categories: scariest (must be family friendly), funniest, and most creative.
