A local organization dedicated to maintaining Lake Tomahawk is asking for the public to join in its effort to clean up.

Friends of Lake Tomahawk will host the event from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 27. Volunteers are asked to meet at the dock near the old community garden on the east side of the lake.

The Friends of Lake Tomahawk BMT Facebook group posted the perimeter cleanup event on its page, asking that attendees bring muck boots, gloves and face masks to the socially distanced gathering. Volunteers are asked to bring rakes or shovels to pull garbage from the rocks near the banks. The organization will provide some tools for those who can’t bring their own.

The lake was drained earlier this month as the town works to reconstruct the forebay on the north end. Friends of Lake Tomahawk would like to take advantage of the low water level to access the litter that has accumulated throughout the body of water.
