FANS hosts American Red Cross Blood Drive

A blood drive scheduled for 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, at Valley Hope Church in Swannanoa, will give healthy area residents an opportunity to address an urgent need for the American Red Cross.

The humanitarian organization is facing a severe blood shortage amid the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing the cancelation of thousands of blood drives around the country.

Local nonprofit organization Friends and Neighbors of Swannanoa is hosting the American Red Cross Blood Drive, which will feature enhanced safety measures. Pre-donation temperature screenings will be conducted before donors are permitted to enter the drive and social distancing guidelines will be enacted. Staff will also be screened before working the event and education materials on COVID-19 will be provided to donors.

The blood drive will take place in the fellowship hall of Valley Hope Church, at 115 Rockdale Avenue, Swannanoa.

To schedule an appointment for the blood drive, contact Matt at 828-242-6345 or email mwbarker63@gmail.com. An appointment can also be scheduled at redcrossblood.org by using the sponsor code “Valleyhope”.
