The summer has brought many magical concerts to the Bloom WNC in Black Mountain. The flower farm’s outdoor concert series, which will wrap up its 2023 season, at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6, will end as it began, with a performance by David Childers.

This gracious, humble and talented musician kicked off the season on an April evening so rainy and chilly that farm owner Abigail Moffitt opened her home to the audience who squeezed onto the furniture, the hearth, the floor and spilled out onto the covered deck and garage.

Childers and his band, the Serpents, backed up to the kitchen island and made the event a night to remember.

Bloom will welcome Childers back with his young friend and new talent Zachary Warren for a season-ending show. Tickets for the concert are $20 and can be purchased at BloomWNC.com.

“We’re grateful that David and Zach are coming back to our outdoor music stage,” Moffitt said. “These two gentlemen wooed our hearts last year with their heartfelt original songs. You are in for a treat!”

Childers and Warren met several years ago and performed together in last season’s final concert on the farm, as well as at other locations around the region.

Childers is known for this generosity to young musicians and recognized Warren’s talent and encouraged his songwriting and performing. Since then, Warren has released an album, “Mama No More,” and performs regularly throughout Western N.C. He also serves as the Bloom farm manager. Warren and Childers will trade songs and back each other up.

“David and I became fast friends after learning we shared a distant family name and quickly began referring to each other as ‘cuz.,’” Warren said. “This bond remained as he and I began playing shows with each other and he lent himself as a mentor to my songwriting. Friday night is sure to be a special evening with lots of laughs, love and good songs.”

Ole’s Guacamoles will be on site with a delicious taco bar featuring beef, chicken or vegetarian options from a $15 cash taco bar. The food will be available from 5 - 6:30 p.m., or until supplies runs out. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drinks, but please no dogs and no smoking.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a chair and a blanket or jacket and “get cozy,” as Moffitt likes to say.

Bloom WNC Specialty Cut Flower Farm is located at 806 North Fork Road. Flowers will be available for purchase at intermission.
