An initiative hosted at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, by the Black Mountain Schools Parent Teacher Organization will help ensure local students returning to school next week are stepping onto clean campuses.

A Grounds Clean Up event will be held at Black Mountain Primary and Elementary Schools this weekend to prepare for the 2021-22 school year, which begins Monday, Aug. 23.

The organization is seeking volunteers to help weed, prune and perform general cleanup around both campuses. Participants are asked to bring gloves, rakes, shovels, and other hand tools, while the Black Mountain Schools PTO will provide water and trash bags.

The nonprofit organization supports the educational experiences at Black Mountain Primary and Elementary Schools through volunteer efforts and fundraising. Its volunteer members act as a voice and resource for the children and families involved with both schools.
