When Zachary Warren took the job of farm manager at Bloom WNC specialty cut flower farm in  July of 2020, he had just come back from travelling around Europe and was moving in front of the global shutdown from the pandemic. France, Italy, Ireland then New York, all locking down behind him as he worked his way home to Western North Carolina.

His focus after graduating from Appalachian State had been filmmaking, but music had always been his solace. Working among the rows of flowers and the physicality of the job was a perfect way to turn inward during a difficult time. Little did anyone predict that farm work would evolve into a music career.

When Abigail Moffit opened her flower farm at the start of the summer to touring bluegrass musicians who had nowhere to perform, Warren asked to play a few original songs to open the shows. Though he had some experience acting in plays and singing in chorus and acapella groups in school and at church, he had never performed his original music in front of an audience before.

Now as the summer draws to a close, he has performed not only five times at the farm but all over the region, met prominent musicians who have nurtured his writing, entered songwriting contests and open mics, and been featured on larger stages as he hones his writing and performing skills. Fully committed, he is in the early stages of recording an album. Along the way he has enlisted two childhood friends, Joey Brown and Sawyer Johnston, to join him. The musicians will perform one of the last concerts at the farm, this time as the headliner, Brother Briggs, from 6 - 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8 from 6 to 8pm. Tickets for the show are $15 and can be purchased through the Bloom website.

Zachary Warren, at his core, is a songwriter. As a teen, he began remedially filling journals and finding melodies to match. Growing up in a 1,200 square-foot home, his music naturally settled into a place of gentleness: light finger-picking and hushed singing, so as not to disturb his sleeping family. His style began taking shape during nightly front-porch listening sessions, where he learned the power of dynamics from Sam Cooke and the almost-hypnotic effect of clever storytelling from Tom T. Hall.

Emerging from necessity, centered by family, propelled by restlessness, Zachary hopes his songs encapsulate sincere, relatable narratives. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this emerging artist as he shares his talents in this beautiful setting. Bring a chair and your own refreshments for this end of season show. Late season flowers will be available for sale.

Tickets can be purchased through the events page at Bloom WNC’s website at bloomwnc.com. And keep your eye out for potentially one more concert at the farm before the cold sets in. For more information visit the website, call 828-450-2801 or email abigail@farmerfloristbloom.com.
