Off picturesque North Fork Road, surrounded by mountains in the distance and row after row of flower gardens, sits the new home of specialty cut flower farm, Bloom WNC. In addition to growing and selling flowers, Bloom is home to farm tours, private parties, workshops, yoga and now concerts, featuring a variety of acoustic performers and traditional Appalachian musicians.
On Friday, April 30, from 6-8 p.m., Bloom WNC will welcome the The West Asheville Rounders with Emma Rast on fiddle and vocals and Daniel Ullom on guitar, mandolin, and vocals. Celia Millingron-Wyckoff will join them on bass.
Rast is an accomplished old-time fiddler who comes from a family steeped in traditional and bluegrass music. Ullom is a sought-after mandolin player in the Asheville old-time and bluegrass music scene, and has recorded with local legend Aaron Burdette. Millingron retired to Asheville in 2014 and is happy to be active in the bluegrass scene where she plays bass with bands that need her.
Opening for the Rounders is singer-songwriter Zach Briggs on guitar.
Tickets for the show are $15 and can be purchased through the Bloom WNC website. Bloom will be taking COVID-19 precautions and asks that guests wear masks and maintain distance when outside of their group. Bring a chair or blanket and arrive by 5:45 p.m. to secure parking and settle in for a fun night. Tickets are non-refundable, however, a rainy day alternative date will be scheduled in the event of inclement weather the day of the concert. A variety of flowers and potted plants will be available for sale.
Save the date for the next Bloom concert, Friday, May 21, featuring Drew Matulich and Friends. Bloom WNC is located at 806 North Fork Road in Black Mountain.
