Abigail Moffit’s grand vision for her specialty cut flower farm is coming into focus with a full season of not just flowers, but weddings, events, concerts and workshops. To celebrate, Bloom WNC will host two special events this month to mark the close of a fruitful season.
Audiences who have been regular attendees at the monthly Bloom concerts will welcome a familiar face at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, when Nick Dauphinais and his All Stars return to the stage at the farm.
Dauphinais has been a part of several iterations of string bands that have performed throughout the season on the farm. This dynamic family man is a delight to see and hear with his distinctive tenor voice and masterful strumming on mandolin and guitar.
Joining him will be Derek Vaden, who also plays with the Larry Stephenson Band and the Darren Nicholson Band, on banjo and vocals. James Schlender, who also performs with the Songs From The Road Band will be on fiddle. And putting the star in the All-Stars will be Darren Nicholson who fronts his own band and also plays with Balsam Range. Nicholson will be on mandolin, guitar and vocals.
Driving the rhythm section will be the very special Celia Millington-Wyckoff, who has been instrumental in putting together these combos throughout the summer.
Tickets to the concert are $15 and can be purchased on the Bloom WNC website. This is a rustic venue so bring your own chair, drinks and bug spray. Many concertgoers bring their own picnics, but for those who prefer tacos, Ole's Guacamoles will return with its taco bar. The $15 cash bar offers a large taco shell bowl filled with chicken or beef and plenty of sides.
From 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 26, join Abigail for Brunch with Bloom. This special event is back after a year hiatus, and the price is $125. Enjoy the gorgeous fall weather surrounded by rows and rows of late summer flowers to celebrate the season’s end. Sit with friends and family and be served a full catered brunch from Four Sisters Bakery, and coffee from Dynamite.
Guests will receive a beautiful handmade pottery vessel and be able to make a floral arrangement to take home. To add to the romance of the afternoon, musician, and farm manager, Zachary Warren will be adding his own musical touches to the event.
Zachary Warren and Friends will close the concert season with a 6 p.m. performance, Friday, Oct. 8.
