The Black Mountain YMCA will seek to fill vacancies in several positions, Wednesday, April 27, when the local fitness center hosts a job fair from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., followed by an afternoon session from 4 - 6 p.m.

The event will connect potential applicants with a variety of part-time posts in the nonprofit organization’s local branch.

Lifeguard positions are available for applicants ages 16 and up, who are physically able to perform the necessary rescue and survival skills, including swimming 300 yards, treading water for two minutes and the ability to lift 200 pounds in rescue situations. With a salary ranging up to $12.50 per hour, the YMCA is offering a $500 bonus to all lifeguards who work the full summer season.

Qualified applicants interested in childcare can inquire about the Youth Development Attendant position, which is responsible for the safety, care and fun of the children who attend. Previous childcare experience is preferred, but not required for the position, open to ages 16 and up.

A highly visible role in customer service, the Membership Engagement Representative welcomes all members and offers tours of the facility. The part-time position requires applicants to be at least 18 years old, and able to stand or be active for extended periods of time.

Other positions open in the Black Mountain YMCA include the Healthy Living Coach, which works with clients to actively and safely engage participants in health behavior change. The fitness center is specifically seeking to fill weekend and morning shifts, which extend from 5 - 9 a.m.

All positions include a free membership, career development training and a reduced price on childcare.
