A Jan. 3 shooting, involving a black Nissan pickup truck on Rhododendron Avenue at approximately 6 p.m., is the subject of an ongoing Black Mountain Police investigation, the department announced in a press release.

The incident, which reportedly followed a verbal altercation, resulted in one victim being transported to Mission Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to BMPD.

“Black Mountain detectives are currently following up on generated leads and incoming information from the public and witnesses,” the department said in the release. “If anyone has any additional information or video footage in the area of the incident that may help further this investigation, please contact Detective Tim Teves at tim.teves@tobm.org or by calling the non-emergency number 828-419-9350.”

BMPD, on Jan. 4, released a photo of the vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting, with N.C. license plate number TER-8040 and a silver tool box on the driver’s side of the tailgate.

“If anyone locates a vehicle matching this description, please do not approach it,” the department said. “The suspect could be armed and dangerous. Please call 911 to report it.”

No additional information is available regarding the ongoing investigation, according to BMPD.
