Black Mountain Police are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a man alleged of attempting to abduct a woman in her car, Sept. 17, at a local business.

The subject, who has not been apprehended, is described as a Hispanic male with long hair, last seen wearing a red sweatshirt and tennis shoes, near the intersection of N.C. 9 and Vance Avenue.

BMPD officers were dispatched to the Shell Station at 202 N.C.9, in response to the report of an attempted kidnapping. During the incident, the suspect was reported to be hiding in the victim’s vehicle and threatened to harm her if she did not keep driving, according to a Sept. 24 press release from the agency. The victim pulled into the gas station and alerted an employee. Once in the parking lot the suspect jumped out of the victim’s vehicle and fled on foot.

The department also released a still frame of video surveillance footage of the incident.

Anyone with information related to the suspect or incident is asked to contact Lieutenant Kevin Fineberg of the BMPD Criminal Investigations Division at 828-419-9359.
