Black Mountain Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade returns to Town Square

Annual event to bring costumed pets and pet owners to downtown streets

An annual event shining a spotlight on Black Mountain’s spookiest furry friends will return for its 21st year, at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, when the Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade and Costume Contest takes place in Town Square.

Participation in the parade, which takes pets and their owners through downtown, is free, while registration for the costume contest is $8 per entry. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Asheville-based Mountain Pet Rescue, which provides foster-based animal rescue services.

Registration opens at 1:30 p.m. on the day of the event, as pets can enter for an opportunity to win cash prizes and gift certificates, donated by local businesses. The grand prize winner will be selected by the audience.
