An annual tradition is returning to the scenic campus of the Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth and Families, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, when the local nonprofit organization hosts its 2022 Fall Festival and Open House.

Since 2005, this free event has provided a day of fun for adults and kids of all ages. It is held on the beautiful Black Mountain Home campus in the Swannanoa Valley and features live music, including performances by the Warren Wilson College String Band, The Dasher Family, The Academy for the Arts, and the Mars Hill University Bailey Mountain Cloggers.

Other activities include a silent auction featuring more than 100 baskets; a car show; bounce houses and a variety of free games for children of all ages; and tours of the campus. Auction and concession stand food sales benefit the children and youth at Black Mountain Home.

Last held in 2019, this annual event provides an opportunity for the community to enjoy the beautiful mountain. Since opening in 1904 as Mountain Orphanage, the organization has provided a home to children in need. Programs include community-based foster care, campus-based cottage care, transitional living for teens aging out of care, and an Independent Living Program for youth over the age of eighteen who wish to pursue higher education.

The BMH Lifelong Living Program provides support during adulthood to youth with developmental disabilities. Individuals, families, and groups are invited to enjoy this free event, which will also provide an opportunity to meet the newly appointment BMH President, James O. Harmon.

Follow signs for parking at Owen High School, located across the street from Black Mountain Home. Event sponsorships are available.
