The holiday season arrived in Black Mountain, Dec. 7, as a local tradition brought thousands of spectators to State Street.

The annual Black Mountain Christmas Parade, hosted by the Black Mountain Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce, featured dozens of festive floats representing area businesses, clubs and organizations.

The theme of the event, which began at Flat Creek Road and followed a westward route to Cragmont Road, was “Winter Wonderland.” Black Mountain Town Manager Josh Harrold, Public Works Director Jamey Matthews, Police Chief Steve Parker and Fire Chief John Coffey served as grand marshals.

The parade marked the culmination of a weekend of holiday-themed celebrations that began, Dec. 6, with Holly Jolly. More than 60 entries were featured in the procession.
