A hot start to the 2022 season continued for the Asheville Christian Academy volleyball team, Aug. 24, as it extended its winning streak to nine games with a 3-1 victory over Brevard.

The Lions, whose 2021 campaign ended with a loss in the NCISAA 3A state championship, have yet to lose a contest this season.

ACA opened the season, Aug. 12, sweeping its first three games in the Calvary Day School Tournament in Winston Salem. The Lions dropped only one set in the two-day tournament, defeating reigning state champion Coastal Christian, 2-0. ACA continued collecting victories with a 3-0 win, Aug. 16, on the road against Robbinsville, which was followed by a 3-1 win over University Christian.

Consecutive wins over Rosman and Brevard rounded out their nine-game streak.

The Lions have been boosted by the performance of seniors Peyton Hightower, who leads the team with 72 kills, and Katie Alexander, who leads ACA with 244 assists and 81 digs. Sophomore Haleigh Kamer is second on the roster with 65 kills to open the season.

ACA will attempt to pick up its 10th straight victory at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, when they host conference rival Carolina Day.
