A late-inning rally at home wasn’t enough to propel ACA past the opening round of the NCISAA 3A Playoffs, May 5.
The Lions, who entered the postseason as a No. 4 seed after finishing the regular season 10-8, fell 4-3 to Gaston Christian.
A run in the second inning gave the Lions an early lead, but the Eagles responded with a 4 runs in the third. The visiting team maintained a 4-1 lead until the sixth inning, when a pair of ACA runs cut it to 4-3.
Gaston Christian maintained the 1-run advantage to close out the game in the seventh inning.
The Lions finished the 2021 season in second place in the Carolina Conference, with a 3-2 mark.
